Music Video for Mac Demarco’s  “My Kind of Woman” This young guy can do no wrong. When I interviewed him last March, he said a few press photos taken during a Halloween adventure made everyone think he was a “lipstick-wearing weirdo for awhile.” Well this video is not helping his case, but I don’t really think he gives a fuck about cases.

Skaters - “I Wanna Dance (But I Don’t Know How)” video released exclusively on NME’s site. Song is polished, catchy, mature. The video’s got that Kill Bill eye patch thing going on, and a rad old lady doing yoga or whatever in the dark. And a Tecate can in the snow.

"Everybody Thought I was a Lipstick Wearing Weirdo...
Kung Fu Necktie, Monday, March 4  Interview by Nikki Volpicelli I find Mac DeMarco playing pin ball in a crowded room with a beer settled on the game’s glass top. He’s focused. I tell him I’m sorry to interrupt, but I’m the interviewer that reached out last week about a pre-show conversation. He recognizes that, and kind of stumbles over his next move, going back...

Youth Lagoon - Wondrous Bughouse Review
1. “Through Mind and Back” getting the nervous energy pangies, like that point before a Radiohead show where there’s just all instrumentals and shadows mulling around on stage, and it might be the band but it also might just be the stage crew (and it’s almost always the stage crew) but like, here we go… you know? 2. “Mute” Alright, this sounds...

Modest Mouse: The Lonesome Crowded West
You can grow up in some suburban town where your parents don’t have a lot of money and so the little money you yourself have you spend on cigarette boxes and gas so you can drive around and try to outrun boredom and smoke to whatever’s on the radio or, in my day, mix your own CDs to cast out the boredom on the radio, too.  And if you did that, watch this documentary on Isaac Brock and...

Robo Trippers - Philly, PA →
(Click the link for the band’s Soundcloud) I was 100% surprised to learn that Robo Trippers exists in my own little city. I’ve been searching the internets for this sound, from The Memories/White Fang to The Growlers to Shannon and the Clams, as of late. I always considered this fuzzed-out retro mock rock to be a sunny, stoned California trend. I guess it mostly is, but it’s not...
